What does Divine do?
The concept for Divine Chocolate was established in 1993 when a Fairtrade company, Nana, and a group of traders teamed up to create a brand that would belong to the farmers in Ghana. The Divine name was created in 2002 along with its first chocolate bar and within months had spread to the UK. Read more about Divine’s story here.
Divine sells organic, Fairtrade chocolate in a range of different flavours now available for purchase in 12 countries worldwide.
In what areas does Divine perform well?
Divine performs well in the Genetic-Modification of products; some of Divine’s products are specifically listed as non-GMO, and its parent company Ludwig Weinrich GmbH & Co. has released a statement about being non-GMO also. Therefore Divine received a high rating in this area. The brand received a top rating for also providing Organic and Vegan chocolate that is certified by The Soil Association and is also a part of The Vegan Society. The brand is also one of the best Fairtrade chocolate brands for its availability in most supermarkets, and the brand is listed by the Fairtrade Foundation. In 2015 Divine ceased the usage of palm oil as an ingredient in its products, stating that finding alternatives is better for the forest, better for the wildlife and better for you!
How could Divine rate higher on our Ethical Chocolate Rating Tables?
