Petplan

Is Petplan an ethical insurance brand?

Unfortunately, Petplan receives a below-benchmark score on The Good Shopping Guide’s Insurance Ethical Ratings Table. As a result of its low score, it cannot be classified as an ethical insurance brand.

Despite not yet meeting the minimum ethical benchmark in the Ethical Insurance sector, we still encourage Petplan to apply for Ethical Accreditation. After receiving its application, The Good Shopping Guide would be able to provide Petplan with a detailed assessment and some tips on how it could improve its ethical score.

To see how other brands score against Petplan within the Ethical Insurance sector, visit the Insurance Ethical Ratings Table. Our Ratings Tables can help you to find out more about the criteria that a brand has to fulfil to meet our minimum ethical benchmark.

The Good Shopping Guide encourages all brands to follow in the footsteps of our top-rated brands by introducing more ethical policies.

What does Petplan receive a top score for?

Petplan’s parent company Allianz has a recent Sustainability Report which contains targets and evidence of progress. The targets include reducing carbon emissions and increasing renewable energy usage.

As a result, Petplan receives a top rating in our Environmental Report category.

Why does Petplan receive a bottom rating for Political Donations?

Within recent election cycles, Allianz has donated over $1.1 million. As this amount is above our threshold for a top or middle rating, Petplan receives a bottom score for this category.

What can Petplan do to improve its score?

Petplan’s below-benchmark score in The Good Shopping Guide’s Ethical Insurance sector is the outcome of a calculation of multiple ethical criteria.

If Petplan wishes to become one of The Good Shopping Guide’s best insurance companies, it first has to work on its bottom rating for Political Donations. However, we still encourage Petplan to apply for Ethical Accreditation as we could help it to improve its score.

Could your insurance brand benefit from Ethical Accreditation?
