Elephant

Is Elephant an ethical insurance brand?

Owned by Admiral Group PLC and receiving a top score from The Good Shopping Guide, Elephant is one of our top-scoring insurance providers within the Ethical Insurance sector. Due to its excellent score, if Elephant applied for Ethical Accreditation it would be awarded with our logo and with this certification of sustainability and ethical business conduct. Our logo helps consumers to recognise and identify ethical brands and is designed to support a brand’s reputation for ethics and sustainability.

To see how other brands rate against Elephant within the Ethical Insurance sector, visit the Ethical Insurance Ratings Table. The table can help you to find out more about the criteria that a brand has to fullfil in order to meet our minimum Ethical Benchmark.

The Good Shopping Guide encourages all brands to follow in the footsteps of our top-rated brands to adopt more ethical and sustainable policies and apply for Ethical Accreditation.

What does Elephant receive a top score for?

We are pleased to say that Elephant receives a top score for many of our categories including Political Donations, Irresponsible Lending and Environmental Destruction.

What does Elephant receive a bottom score for?

The Good Shopping Guide gives Elephant no bottom marks in any criteria, although it does have some intermediate marks that the insurance company could work on.

One of Elephant’s middle scores is for its Environmental Report. Elephant’s parent company, Admiral Group PLC, has a recent Sustainability Report, which outlines how the company became carbon neutral in 2020. Admiral also discusses how it will purchase all of its energy from renewable sources. However, it receives a middle score due to the lack of additional targets relating to other environmental issues.

What can Elephant do to improve its score?

Elephant’s above benchmark score within The Good Shopping Guide is the outcome of a calculation of multiple ethical criteria. As one of our top-rated ethical insurance companies, Elephant could apply for Ethical Accreditation and would be awarded with our logo. However, we do recommend that it works on its middle ratings too so that it can achieve a higher place on the Ethical Insurance Ratings Table.

Would Ethical Accreditation help your insurance company’s consumer reputation?
